TORG has been reborn in Corvallis Oregon.below is a note from jeff who
is running the game
-Ron
I have just started up a TORG campaign. My group played the game
a lot when it was still being supported, but when WEG let the game slide,
we decided to drop it. Now we are back!
My players wanted to experience the actual invasion from the
beginning, not something that was very possible in the original. So this
campaign, which we are calling TORG Reboot, is an invasion of a different
Earth by a different alliance of High Lords. We may cross it over into
the classic TORG sometime in the future. I am running it by the seat of
my pants as my school schedule allows, making up details as needed, but
if the membership of this list is willing, I would like to discuss the
various cosms that we have and how the war is developing in the Earth of
1997.
The invasion started on January 19, 1997 with the invasion of 16
cosms. We only intend to keep about 8 of them, the others being thrown
off by the massive possibility energy of Reboot Earth. We have played
through the first four days of the invasion, and the players were
instrumental in throwing off one cosm already. I wanted them to feel,
right off the bat, that the world was very volatile and their actions
could make a difference. We want to use as many of the real world events
as we can to give the game verisimilitude.
We have made a couple of changes in the overall theme, assuming
that in a war of reality, not everything will always work the same. Do
you think that any of these violate the feel of TORG too much?
Stormers arise in times of crisis, typically during Reality Storms, and
have to make a committed decision in the process of transcendence. This
decision is not necessarily a good versus evil one, especially if the
character is not from a cosm with a morality world law. (In play, one
character that transcended had to decide between saving a friend or
defeating an enemy. But the friend was not necessarily in dire danger,
and the enemy may have been able to kill them both if not stopped at that
moment.)
Stelae and triangle cosms are a common tool of invasion, but
there are other ways to make territory yours. These may have other types
of areas than Pure, Dominant, and Mixed.
High Lords are not necessarily evil. They are obviously
imperialistic, but they may be invading in the name of improving the lot
of ignorant savages, spreading a religion, whatever. I would hesitate to
call the mother of all imperialists, Queen Victoria, evil
